On Wednesday 3rd October the Trout Hotel will be hosting a tutored wine tasting luncheon.
Priced at £35.00 per person, this intimate event will include a reception drink, a seasonal two course menu and coffee. Wine tastings will also be included. Introducing and talking about the wines on offer will be two vineyard owners and fine wine producers, Amaury Devillard and Louis Moreau.
Louis Moreau graduated in Oenology-Viticulture in California so his approach is sustainable and natural viticulture that is respectful of the environment. Louis returned to Chablis in order to succeed his father. The family settled in the region in 1814 and Louis is the 6th generation. A 2016 Louis Moreau Petit Chablis will be served as an aperitif and a 2015 premier cru Chablis will accompany the starter of fried oysters.
Ancestors of Amaury Devillard have owned vineyards in Mercurey since 12th Century and today the family represent four estates in the Burgundy region. Devillard studied business in Paris then became a master of wine at the Ecole Superieure de Commerce de Paris before working in South Africa, Barcelona and New York. A 2015 Bourgogne Pinot Noir and a 2016 Chateau de Chamirey Mercurey will be served to compliment the loin of venison main course.
