The Trout Hotel wins three awards in three weeks

We are on cloud nine. In March 2017, not only were we awarded a Visit England Gold Award but we also secured an AA Rosette for food and an AA Silver Rating – all in the space of three weeks!

Since refurbishing the hotel after the devastating floods of 2009 and 2015, we’re absolutely thrilled that our efforts in getting the business firmly back on it’s feet have been recognised. To be complemented by such prestigious bodies and to win three awards in three weeks has also been a real privilege. We couldn’t have wished for a better start to the year.

Sue Eccles, the Managing Director said: “It is absolutely fantastic to be recognised once again by a body as prestigious as the AA and to do so off the back of the VisitEngland award is remarkable. It really is a team effort here and the commitment our restaurant, kitchen and hotel staff have shown to providing top quality service has shone through yet again.”

In addition to these fantastic achievements, we are delighted to have been named in The Caterer magazine’s Top 30 places to work in hospitality.  By putting an emphasis on staff’s welfare, we’ve been able to create a positive working environment right through from the housekeeping department to the kitchen and front of house. We truly believe that the staff is what makes The Trout so special.

Visit England Gold Award

We have celebrated many landmark moments over the year, but one of our favourites has to be winning the Visit England Gold Award. Our dedicated team endeavour every single day to provide our guests with an exceptional service, catering to their every requirement. From our 49 luxurious rooms through to the delicious dishes served by our dedicated chefs, we strive to give guest’s the ‘best of the best’ – which is what Visit England is all about.

AA Silver Rating

Silver Star hotels like The Trout are recognised and commended for offering “a superior level of quality and high standards of hotel keeping, service and cleanliness”. It was a real privilege to be named as one of the recipients of this awards, especially because of its renowned reputation. These awards help customers find those special places where the business goes the extra mile.

AA Rosette for food

The AA’s Rosette award scheme was the first nationwide scheme for assessing the quality of food served by restaurants and hotels. As you may know, the long-established scheme is one of the most highly regarded in the UK, but did you know that only about 10% of all restaurants in Britain have secured a Rosette? We are extremely proud to be one of those. The Derwent Restaurant was credited for its special atmosphere as well as it’s consistently superb food. The quality of the dishes was the main reason behind our award. A few other considerations that the inspectors took into account were the presentation and local ingredients that go into the dishes, as well as the skill and understanding behind it.
