The Lake District Coast Aquarium & Indoor Karting Experience

Do the kids fancy themselves as the next Hamilton and Button? Have you tolerated watching “Finding Nemo” back to back, more times than it should be lawfully appropriate? Well perhaps it’s time you took a break from the TV, and took a much-needed break in the lakes. Bringing the kids childhood passions to life, and perhaps even your own -the Trout Hotel, invite you to experience an aquatic and petrol fuelled family adventure like no other.

Following a luxurious overnight stay in the Trout Hotel’s tranquil riverside location, you will begin your fun-filled day with a freshly prepared cooked to order breakfast. Once the little one’s belly’s are full, you’ll then head 4 miles down the road, to the pretty Cumbrian harbour town of Maryport, located on the gorgeous Lake District Coast.

The Lake District Coast Aquarium

The Lake District Coast Aquarium has been a hotspot for tourists, since opening in May 1997, and has since been the beneficiary of a number of top tourism awards, such as the Cumbria Tourism Award 2010. With over 70 engagingly themed and informative displays, including “The Shipwreck”, “The Crashing Wave” and the curious kids favorite- the “Shark and Ray Pool”, you can be assured that the kids will be thoroughly entertained, but more importantly, educated.

When mum and dad fancy a sit down and coffee- go take a break in the pretty Harbourside Cafe.
With fantastic views over the harbour, where you can gaze at the fishing boats heading out to The Solway Firth, why not quiz the kids on on all the fun facts they’ve learnt- because with hourly feeds and talks by the incredibly knowledgeable staff, you’ll be surprised by what they can now teach you.

West Coast Indoor Karting

The second pitstop of your day out in The Lakes, will be none other than the largest indoor karting track in the North West, where you will enjoy a thrilling family go-karting session. First established in 1992, at West Coast Indoor Karting, you’ll have the choice of tackling either the 520m full sized Karting track, or the 330m Kids track- meaning that no matter what your age or experience, there will be a race for you.

What’s more, the tracks highly professional track marshals will be on hand to give the kids a thorough safety briefing, meaning that mum and dad can commit all eyes on the race and not on the kids. After the thrilling pursuits of your day, The Trout’s cosy Lounge Bar and tranquil landscaped gardens will be a welcome retreat, for mum and dad to kick back and relax, and for the kids to continue exploring.
