Honister Via Ferrata Experience Day

Honister Via Ferrata Experience

FROM £268 FOR TWO PEOPLE

Aside from producing the world famous Westmorland green slate, Honister Slate Mine has became a staple pitstop for outdoor activity junkies seeking an adrenalin charged adventure in The Lake District. Located a forty-minute drive from The Trout Hotel, Honister Slate Mine sits at the head of the impressive Buttermere Valley- a remote and wild backdrop that only adds to the exhilarating atmosphere felt in anticipation of your days events.

The Via Ferrata is Latin for “Iron Way” and is a route around the side of a mountain using iron ladders and cable footholds. At Honister, visitors are given the option to challenge the imposing presence of Fleetwith Pike, which standing at an impressive 648 metres, provides brave visitors with a breathtaking outdoor experience. Following the Miners original route to the summit, Via Ferrata offers adventurers a thrilling, yet achievable Lake District experience- safe in the knowledge that you are securely clipped in and accompanied by experienced and knowledgeable instructors.

Via Ferrata Classic or Xtreme?

Honister encourage visitors of all fitness and ability levels, offering a choice between tackling either the Via Ferrata Classic or Via Ferrata Xtreme- an advanced and arguably hair-raising adaption of the original award-winning outdoor activity. So, whether you fancy yourself as a thrill-seeking dare devil, or you’d much rather feast your eyes on the breathtaking views- Honister Via Ferrata will be an unforgettable experience for everyone.

In order to provide our guests with the most unique stay at The Trout Hotel, we will be more than happy to arrange and book your day out.  From £258 for two people, you will enjoy a tour of Honister Slate Mine, and re-fuel with a delicious light lunch at the visitor centre.  Via Ferrata Classic or Via Ferrata Xtreme can be booked separately by the hotel for guests.  All outdoor equipment will be provided by Honister Slate Mine, but do remember to pack your warm clothes- to ensure your outdoor adventure is memorable for being thrilling rather than chilling
