Riverbank

Dining to the lilting accompaniment of the River Derwent on a mid-summer’s afternoon is an experience to be cherished. Under the canopy of a majestic red oak tree, The Trout Hotel has made the most of its outdoor space and created the perfect opportunity for guests to embrace the alfresco lifestyle.

Take in the serene river views whilst enjoying an ice-cold beverage or delicious bite to eat. Our unbeatable riverside location – where Hollywood star Bing Crosby used to fish during his visits to the hotel – makes for the perfect spot to dine and drink.

Tables are spaced out so that guests can enjoy a relaxed and memorable al fresco experience. So take some time out and join us at the Trout Hotel for a well-earned break in the sun. Nothing quite beats dining in the great outdoors on a balmy summer’s day.

Garden

Overlooked by vibrant flower arrangements and historic buildings, the Trout Hotel’s Garden is where sparkling wine and seasonal dishes flow freely. It comes as little surprise that this space is bustling with locals and guests when the Lakeland sun makes an appearance.

Upon your visit, how about embracing the al fresco theme and starting with an aperitivo of Aperol Spritz, before browsing the carefully selected wine list and pairing with small dishes or an indulgent main course from the Terrace Bistro menu. The Laurent Perrier Rosé Brut is a wonderful, refreshing companion to a sunny Saturday (or any day for that matter).

Or on a hot day, skip the mains and head straight to dessert. We have a selection of homemade treats ready to be savoured in the sought after, botanical setting of the Trout’s Garden.
